Dojo Foundation Spotlights ECMINSTITUTE's New Website

The Dojo Foundation - the open source developers of the popular Dojo Toolkit - selected ECMHUB as a Spotlight example showing the benefits of their Javascript technology.

What makes ECMHUB unique is the ability for the application to track the status of an entire industry through a massive mashup of blogs, news, webcasts, events, discussions, videos, and RFPs. Implementing AJAX powered through Dojo provides a single page, single click website that eliminates the need for individuals to search or aggregate industry information on their own. We believe this model, multiplied over many industries, would significantly reduce the need for generic Internet search, bookmarking, and RSS aggregation. Over time, one could imagine multiple industry hubs fundamentally changing how people view and use the Internet.

Serving Up Widgets Everywhere

The ECMINSTITUTE is delivering widgets containing popular ECMHUB.org feeds throughout many communities. The widgets are custom designed and include blogs, news, events, forms, and community conference rooms. The widgets are completely portable and may be shared and embedded within web pages. Dr. John Girard will lead a live web conferencing session aimed to share narrative tools and techniques that facilitate knowledge sharing. After briefly reviewing the theory of storytelling, John will describe the types of stories available to organizational leaders. The session culminates with a case study of storytelling in action. Three stories will be reviewed with a view of determining the key elements of success. John will present a Powerpoint slideshow and take questions at the end. Total time: 1 hour.

ECMHUB.org Hosting Federal KM Working Group Web Conferences

"Starting in October, 2008 the ECMINSTITUTE will host the KM.GOV web conferences. The KM.GOV represents the Federal Knowledge Management Working Group (FKWG)."

The KMWG mission is to inform and support federal government departments, agencies, and organizations in the implementation of knowledge management (KM) activities, practices, lessons learned, and technologies. The ECMINSTITUTE will host web conferences for the FKWG every Tuesday at 1:00pm EST. If you are interested in attending, please sign up within the KM Community Page. Today, the ECMINSTITUTE upgraded the ECMHUB website to include Google Knol aggregation.

Google Knol is the latest project from Google intended to build blogging into a knowledge resource similar to Wikipedia. Leveraging this initiative for the Enterprise Content and Knowledge Management industries, ECMHUB.org now embeds Knol search widgets into each cloud community. The search widget enables website participants to quickly retrieve the latest community knol articles as well as enter customized queries. The addition of Google Knol increases the total number of daily articles aggregated by ECMHUB to over 6,000.

ECMHUB: Single Page, Single Click Website Launched

ECMHUB.org - the home page for the ECMINSTITUTE - provides 40 industry specific communities with daily feeds of over 5,000 articles including blogs, news, webcasts, events, discussions, videos, and RFPs. The website v2.0 incorporates emerging cloud and mashup technologies to deliver a single-page, single-click access to all the latest news and information within the content management industry. Unlike traditional information exclusive websites, ECMHUB.org provides a rich infrastructure for true web collaboration with free built-in 3D chat, video and audio conferencing, whiteboarding, and screensharing. With a Google login as the only requirement to participate, the website encourages content management professionals to contribute to an ever-growing knowledge base of information. Built with the same infrastructure that Google uses, ECMHUB.org provides a scalable, single point location for professionals to meet, learn, and discover.

Integrated Web Conferencing Announced

The ECMINSTITUTE, in cooperation with DimDim SAAS professional services, plans to provide free web conferencing for its members with the release of its new website ECMHUB.com. DimDim is a strong competitor to Webex and Microsoft LiveMeeting offering web conferencing for 20 or less participants for free. The ECMINSTITUTE plans to incorporate DimDim into its Google App Engine infrastructure. When the website is completed, anyone with a standard Google account will have single-click access to host and participate in live web-meetings. For larger audiences, the ECMINSTITUTE will also offer an upgraded version to support up to 100 participants. These online "industry events" will appear in a dedicated area inside each community home page where organizations and sponsors can plan, schedule, and promote industry specific activities.

Cloud Tags + Virtual Communities = Cloud Communities

The ECMINSTITUTE plans to introduce a cloud navigation system with its forthcoming release of ECMHUB.org. The proposed tag cloud will represent dozens of virtual communities linked together within the broader industry view of content management. Within the cloud each community including , companies, trends, disciplines, and applications will all have an associated weight, color, and text size. Similar communities will be clustered together to show implied associations. When a cloud community is clicked, a tab display will appear providing additional details include current news, events, and RFPs.

Google App Engine Infrastructure Announced

To build a world-wide social computing platform for it's members, the ECMINSTITUTE announced today that it plans to build a new website powered by Google App Engine. The new website will combined several technologies including Google Docs, AJAX, and various software mashup tools into a browser-based application powered by Google App Engine.

Over 40 Companies Sign up as "Solvers"

	"At the ECMINSTITUTE we attempt to remove boundaries between organizations. Instead of struggling to solve problems internally, we encourage organizations to look outward across the industry to diverse "Solvers".
During the 2008 AIIM Expo, over 40 organizations including EMC, Google, Salesforce, Oracle, Westbrook, AINS, and IIMI become official Solvers for the ECMINSTITUTE. Our Solvers participate in formal peers reviews where Seekers submit problems to the ECMINSTITUTE for unique and creative problem solving.
